E-236: Pun & Loathing

Random Vegas
The stalled Fontainebleau project is not the first time the affiliation has tried to enter the Las Vegas Market.  Ben Jaffe, an executive at the Miami Beach resort was the man behind the Tropicana.  Like the north strip project, he ran out of money and had to sell his stake in the Fontainebleau to be able to finish it. Twitpic of the week

It’s gorgeous and yet somehow off-putting.  Call it quintessential 80s Vegas neon but Caesars Palace used to be bathed in teal neon lighting at night, opulence via tacky, simultaneous beautiful and WTF.  One can’t help but feel out of place if not wearing loafers without socks and a sport coat with the sleeves pushed up to the elbows.  Please don’t misinterpret, I think this looks really cool, but this isn’t Caesars Palace, it’s more like a Bond villain’s lair.  Thank you @Epic Esquire for sharing this week’s “Twitpic of the week”, giving us a blast from the past and an apparent cocaine contact high.
